Look, I know what you’re thinking…

You don’t have time to do all those things that might make you happy…

...you know, like meditating for 10 hours a day, getting up at the crack of dawn before the littles, finding a new hobby or whatever it was you read about in that ‘how to’ of happiness article once.

And you don’t have any help, or anyone to do all those things that get in the way of the ‘happy stuff’.

All that happy stuff, ‘out there’. Somewhere else you haven’t quite been given the keys to.

You tell yourself there’s a list a mile long of XYZ reasons you’re not happy…

...maybe the littlest doesn’t sleep so you’re too effing tired

...or the middle ones just bicker all the pigging time and it drives you crazy

...or your other half just swans in and doesn’t get it at all and you feel so underappreciated

...or it’s ok for so and so, with her nanny & her millions of pounds to just buy all the happiness she wants

...or whatserface down the road who only has one anyway so what does she know

Life is hard and it’s not your fault.

I get it.  I do.

 

And while on the one hand I want to rush round and give you a big hug...

I also really need you to hear me when I say it’s absolutely not about any of that.

Those are all stories and they’re keeping you stuck right where you are.

This is actually about YOU, and your choices

Because there is ALWAYS a choice.

And right now you get to choose to change the record.

You know, life isn’t actually supposed to feel hard.  

It’s actually supposed to feel pretty good. 

So you get to choose that enough is enough and that happiness IS an option.

I’m ready to reclaim my happy

A few years back I was really struggling and I absolutely was not happy ...my little one was incredibly high needs with extreme distaste for sleep.  It was exhausting & I moaned non-stop.  When I wasn’t moaning I was crying.  And people kept telling me to be grateful because I had a beautiful son and wasn’t it all wonderful.

It wasn’t all wonderful.

The struggle and trying to make it  better became my whole life. I allowed it to seep out and tinge everything.  I blamed everything on how hard it all was.

I wasn’t exercising, seeing friends, going anywhere, eating properly, spending any time with my other half…all because of how hard motherhood was.

I convinced myself I’d be happy when...my little one started sleeping, or stopped crying, or when I had more time with my husband, or when I had time for the gym…

I had stopped enJOYing life...and I was blaming it on everything else.

And then one day, my life flashed before my eyes and I realised…it had to stop. I absolutely couldn’t carry on like this.  

Because my mood, my self esteem, my relationships, my health...physical, emotional & mental, my patience, my resilience, my energy, my capacity for compassion...my ability to mother the way I wanted to, were ALL seriously taking the hit. 

Something had to change and it was me who had to change it.  

I realised that if I really wanted to prioritise myself, to enJOY my life...I could.  I just needed to make that choice.

And so I chose to change the story.

I chose joy over struggle.

Happiness over hardship

Living over wallowing

Bit by bit I did the work.. I cleared out the crap.  I rewrote my story and I refound my happy.

And now? Now I KNOW...

 

What brings me alive.

What happiness means to me

How to play with my little person AND enjoy it

How to balance me and everyone else

That I AM fun mummy rather than snappy mummy

How to stay calm, confident, connected and feel more in control

How to moan LESS and laugh MORE

That I have much less resentment and frustration and so much more resilience & patience

How to have a shit load more fun

How to enjoy life, my little one, my other half, my life and mySELF so much more.

And when people tell me how much I have to be grateful for, I smile, and nod. Because yes I do. 

And I want that for you too.

I want that for me!

 

Do you know one of the biggest lessons I learned along the way?

That the whole time I was looking for this ‘happiness’ thing, it was staring me right in the face.  Because happiness isn’t some great big grand gesture, or event, or destination. It’s all around us, it’s right there hiding in plain sight in those everyday moments.  And all we have to do is open our eyes, and decide to enjoy the ride.

And so Journey to Joy was born...first as a way of life and then as a 1:1 coaching offer for my private clients.

And now I’m bringing my Journey to Joy method to you.

This happiness stuff matters.  It really REALLY matters but we’re not taught it at school.  It’s not modelled to us… and this is your chance to start modelling it yourself now.

No matter what stage of motherhood you’re at, no matter how old your kids are, no matter what...you GET to be happy too.  You DESERVE happiness and so does your family.

I won’t give you a set of pre-defined ideas about what you ‘should’ be doing, or a million new things to try to fit into your already bursting at the seams schedule.  

Instead I will use a mixture of art & science, coaching & teaching, to guide you to:

  • what gets in the way of you accessing joy day to day 
  • what would help you to access MORE joy 
  • how to make that happen, including asking for the help & time you need AND how to protect it thereafter.

I will encourage you to dream big, to purge all resistance, to unblock the drains holding you back, to find your own voice & to build your own happiness blueprint that you can go on to model & share with your family.

So that by the end of our time together you will

I'm Emma and I'm mummy to one crazy wildling and owner & founder of Courage & Chamomile. This week we’re going to get clear on where you actually are right now and how you got here, so we can move forward

  3. We’ll take a good honest look at your life now and see how satisfied you are with which bits or not...we can’t make a plan to improve things if we don’t get clear on how they are now

Rewrite the Story

This week we’re going to learn how to shift those perceptions we uncovered last week to adopt more of an optimistic, growth mindset for moving forward

  1. We’ll learn how the words we choose to use & the stories we choose to tell shape our reality
  2. We’ll get clear on how you actually DO want to feel, who you DO want to be, what you DO want to believe about happiness, and we’ll rewrite those stories
  3. And we’ll get really clear on what it is you DO want in your life. We’ll articulate the dream & work out what taking aligned daily action looks like for you

Redress the Balance

This week we’re going to be starting to consciously curate the life you actually DO want rather than the one that looks great to everybody else on paper.

  1. We’ll get clear on which areas of your life are a priority to focus on
  2. We’ll tackle some of that negative self talk & learn how to challenge & rewire our brain’s natural negativity bias
  3. We’ll learn the importance of stillness, silence & rest and how to DO less and BE more

Flexing the Muscle, Getting Your Needs Met

Having cleared out all the old crap, this week is all about laying the foundations and starting to flex those happiness muscles & making way for the good stuff.

  1. We’ll learn the basic human needs we all have
  2. We’ll get clear on YOUR specific needs...basic and otherwise
  3. We’ll learn how to fill your own cup(s) & get those needs met

Flexing the Muscle, Keeping Your Head

This week we’re looking at how to keep your head when life isn’t quite going to plan & shit hits the fan threatening to derail you completely.

  1. We’ll learn how to stay grounded & feel truly supported
  2. We’ll learn key strategies for keeping our head above the struggle/drama
  3. We’ll identify ways to recognise when the ego is at play and how to silence the mind chatter.

The Cherry on Top

And now for the science bit!  This week we’re learning all about some key models of happiness & wellbeing AND how to apply them to & in our own lives & in the context of family life & motherhood

This week we’re digging further into the good stuff by learning how to really ramp up the pleasure, inject some play & rediscover our creativity...and why any of that matters anyway

  3. We’ll discover the importance of play & get creative with ways to get creative

The Nitty Gritty

We start week commencing 6th September.

Each week's content will be released to you via your membership area.
